Get To Know Me:
Did you know there are over 300 real estate agents in Cape County? So why choose Kim Bader?
A friend of mine told me choosing a real estate agent is like picking out a bottle of wine. You choose based on the label and description. So let me tell you what’s inside the bottle or more about my “vintage”!
I am born and raised Cape Girardeau. My sister couldn’t wait to move and is now in California but this is my home. I never had a strong desire to move. This is a wonderful area to go to school, work, raise a family, or retire and I am proud to be selling real estate in the home that I love.
I’m a people person and may talk your ear off if you don’t stop me. This actually makes me a great communicator which coordinates well with my Mass Communication (Public Relation option) degree with minors in marketing and human resources management from Southeast Missouri State University. I am very comfortable and professional in my communications with both clients and other agents throughout the buying and selling transaction.
Motorcycles
Although a very small part of my degree is graphic design, the creative nature I have had since childhood naturally drew me to this area of my field.
My first job out of college was in the motorcycle industry! I started at Motorcycle Stuff Distributing as a graphic designer and quickly became Art Director and on to Marketing Director where I managed event planning, advertising, vendor relationships, served as a resource for our sales force, and organized, designed, & managed production of a 1500+ page full-color catalog.
My design background gives me experience with spatial relationships, color, and organization. I have an eye for detail and a talent for re-imagining a spaces. (Just ask Husband. He will be happy to complain to you!)
Eyes
I left the motorcycle industry for the health care industry (yes, culture shock) to be the Director of Patient and Professional Relations and Director of Marketing for Eye Care Specialists. This position fostered my passion for unique and personalized customer service while still getting to design for the marketing and promotion of the practice.
So how did I get to real estate? When in college, any elective I took was in architecture. I’ve always loved the design and history of buildings. I’m of course an HGTV addict and Husband and I are DIYers allowing me to make our home YOU-niquely ours.
I’ve always watched the real estate market whether looking for a house or not. When we bought our last home I told my agent after we were in the house a while that I wanted to talk to her about her career in real estate.
Real Estate
Fast forward nearly seven years talking about wanting to become a realtor and becoming a REALTOR®! An 8-5 office job was no longer where I wanted to be at this stage of my life.
I enjoy working with people, meeting new people, and building relationships, and I revel in the joy my clients show me after helping them on a project or transaction. Real estate pairs my creativity and design with my 29+ years of customer service making this field a perfect fit. My heart is truly in finding and helping people make their homes YOU-nique.
I believe your home is your sanctuary and should be a reflection of you, your family, and your furry friends. I would value the opportunity to work with you!
Ten Fun Facts About Me:
I have an obnoxious craft room that looks like you just walked into Hobby Lobby.
I have always been creative which I have passed on to my daughter (see image!). I'm fortunate enough to have a husband who allows me to use up a bedroom with our hobbies.
I’m very resourceful and aim to reuse, repurpose, and recycle. This aids me in helping homeowners with their existing space whether buying, selling, or re-styling to stay. Unlike an interior designer who works on a big budget and often advocates the purchase of new decor, I use homeowner’s existing furnishings, memorabilia, and decor when staging a home, decorating, or styling and improving. I love using decor in entirely new, fresh, and functional ways to make your home reflect you. (you can check out some of my crafty projects from the Hobby Lobby room at my design blog at beyondcmyk.com.)
I LOVE all animals and would have about four more dogs if Husband allowed it.
I am oddly over-the-moon infatuated with our guinea pig who was supposedly attained for my daughter. She is sassy, cuddly, and very communicative.
I will not live in a house without a dog. I must have a wagging tail and someone overly excited to see me when I get home. However, pets can be messy so I like to make the home accepting of the pets but also functional with fur babies having their own well-organized spaces.
I am very type-A, but in a good way!
I know that if I put my coffee mug in the microwave with my right hand for 38 seconds, it will be in the exact right spot for me to grab with my right hand when finished.
This efficiency and OCD attention to detail serves me well when working for my clients, staging homes to bring a better sale price, searching for a buyer’s new YOU-nique home, and when helping homeowners improve their existing space for efficiency, style, and functionality.
I can’t sit still.
My friend Amy told me I have more than 24 hours in my day. I can't just sit and watch TV. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Netflix binge, but I am usually folding clothes, working on my laptop, or just coloring and doodling while I watch TV. My mind is constantly processing ideas and designs for my passions, namely, how I can best serve my real estate clients.
I think EVERYONE should own a label maker.
“A place for everything and everything in it’s place”. I label EVERYTHING. My friends joke that Husband has a label on him somewhere that says “Husband” (promise he doesn’t).
I love organization and functionality and believe both should be present in every home. Labels help everyone in the household know where things are and where they should be replaced so items don’t get jammed in a different cabinet every time they are put away. Wasting time looking for things is time you will never get back (not to be overly dramatic)!
I test gravity quite frequently.
It’s not unusual for me to be standing one moment and on the ground the next. My friends anxiously anticipate my clumsiness because it’s a good laugh. So if I trip up the sidewalk when we are touring homes, don’t mind me. You can even laugh. It’s okay. (Just help me up please!)
I LOVE to learn new things!
I’m a sponge. I love learning and enhancing my knowledge in any topic. I say I get it from my dear, dear grandma who took a Spanish class in her 80s just because she "always wanted to learn Spanish".
I am very computer-savvy and stay up-to-date on all aspects of my field helping you be “in the know” and get the most advanced marketing and exposure for your home. I share things I’ve learned, ideas, DIYs, home maintenance tips, and buying and selling advice on my YOU-nique Blog.
I’m an Aquarius through and through.
I don't know anything about astrology except my sign. I find it crazy when I find a description for Aquarius that is so on point. Some descriptions I have found include: "an intuitive thinker with a practical side;" "has a very ethical, moral code;" "seeks to develop ideas and communicate them;" "inventive and original;" "thoughtful and caring;" "likes to solve problems."
My Aquarian nature nurtures my creativity and relationships with my clients. My design background helps me envision spaces in different ways. I understand a home's need to function YOU-niquely for different homeowners and I help clients see the potential in a home.
I name everything.
My mom has always said I have to personify everything. When I was little, all my stuffed animals had names and personalities. I would rotate who slept with me so none of them would feel left out and have their feelings hurt.
The same is with my clients! Not that I will name you but that I enjoy all personalities and adjust to your needs. Everyone gets my full 110% care and attention!
One of my favorite Aquarian descriptions is: "Those who love Aquarius should understand that to expect anything but 100 percent total dedication from her is unrealistic." Although nothing in my life is perfect, I am a perfectionist which drives Husband (and sometimes me) crazy. I like every detail in order. I want to help you find your style and make your home "perfect" and YOU-niquely yours. To achieve this, I use my strong motivation and creativity.
I am right brain AND left brain.
I am a creative at heart (right brain) but I just naturally take to computers and all things technology (left brain)! Despite my hatred for algebra in high school and college, now, I actually enjoy using it in programming and calculations to create custom databases that aid in my efficiency and productivity.
I keep excellent records, have checklists for everything, and educate my clients to ensure you can anticipate every step in your real estate transaction. My goal is to keep your stress to a minimum and maximize the excitement of your next home transition.
